Demo tem uma narrativa. É uma história de amor (mas também pode ser um drama histórico ou um conto de fadas, um remake sem original de referência, uma tragédia política, uma biografia desactualizada, um pesadelo...). Não a contamos muito bem, porque já lá vai o tempo em que isso se fazia. Mas há uma protagonista. Baptizámo-la de Savitri. Vem das águas onde moram os crocodilos. Regressa à terra natal após longa ausência. E propõe, desculpem, impõe uma nova ordem. Há quem goste. Até porque quem não gosta é lançado aos crocodilos.
Demo é um musical de inspiração indiana, made in Teatro Praga e que conta com a música dos americanos Kevin Blechdom e Christopher Fleeger, e do estónio Andres Lõo. Embrulhamos questões filosóficas, éticas, sociais e culturais em chansons-papel-de-rebuçado. O rebuçado é para todos: colorido e agradável ao paladar, mas duro de trincar e letal para a dentição. É democrático, demente e demolidor.


Demo has a narrative. It’s a love story (but it can also be a historical drama or a fairy tale, a remake without an original, a political tragedy, an out-of-date biography, a nightmare...). We do not tell the story very well, because that time has long passed. But we have a protagonist. We called her Savitri. She’s from the water where the crocodiles live. She comes back to her homeland after being away for a long long time. And she proposes... sorry: she imposes a new order. Some like it. And those who don’t are thrown to the crocodiles.
Demo is a musical with an Indian inspiration, “made in” Teatro Praga and counting on the music composed in collaboration with the American musicians and composers Kevin Blechdom and Christopher Fleeger, and the Estonian musician and performer Andres Lõo. Demo packs together philosophical, ethical, social and cultural issues rapped in candy paper. The candy is for everyone: colourful and tasteful, but hard to chew and lethal for the teeth. It is democratic, demented and demolishing.
